When I started going to city meetings back in 2021, I warned the board about the traffic issues they were bringing in. Specifically I mentioned that it was going to be a problem teaching my children to drive. Well, it’s 2024, and here we are.
Behind Kroger is being developed. The condos between Indian Ridge and Kroger are roughly 60% completed. The road is paved, and just recently the man hole covers that were protruding from the road have been paved over. The speed limit sign as you enter from the basketball court says 30 mph.
My daughter is learning to drive and isn’t quite ready for 76 on a regular basis. We have started using that residential road to get to Kroger. The man holes were a problem and you had to drive slowly around them. They are covered now, but are still large hills in the road. 30 feels awfully fast in a neighborhood, so my daughter was doing about 21 through that development.
Someone passed her. That’s right, passed her on a residential road to get to Kroger.
We ended up at the same place, Kroger. I confronted her. I yelled out my window and said, “You passed my daughter in a no passing zone!” Her response was- there wasn’t a no passing sign. It’s a residential neighborhood. Are you kidding me????
As we were leaving, I saw her again. Asked her if I needed to paint some lines for her. She did not respond. Was I behaving like an angry mamma bear? Yep. She didn’t realize that I not only had a dash cam, but a rear camera as well. The reason I have this camera is because this isn’t the first time someone has driven irresponsibly around us. We get passed on Calista, double yellow lines, at least 1-2 times a month. This time it was filmed. We went back through the camera and found where she pulled out behind me which means I figured out where she lives. I can tell you 100% that she lives in th Fields at Oakwood. I won’t tell you more, even though I know more. Facebook is filled with information.
Thank you Michael Arnold, Clif Hutson, Farris Bibb, and the late John Decker for this mess you have left my children. Yes, my children. I have three more children that have to learn to drive in a town where people don’t seem to care about rules of the road. Can’t even count how many times they pull out in front of me from Wilkinson to Calista. That stop sign is pretty much a suggestion at this point.
So here we are. In a mess created by a government that was for “some” people, but not for THE people.
We live off of 31w just south of White House. Ever since all of these new housing developments have been going up and people moving in, we see people passing on the right lane and severely tailgating ( can’t see the grill of the car in the rear view mirror ) all the time. WHPD and SCSO needs to start fining people for such behaviors
Wow! I’ be totally embarrassed as a parent to know my child said that. I gave my kids options. They could only get one question on their driving test wrong, or I wasn’t adding them to my insurance bet BEFORE that they had to pass my questions for two weeks. If they didn’t pass they didn’t get to take the test. They through I was the meanest mom on the planet, but as a parent you realize they could not only harm themselves, but others too if they got wrong. How can you be so stupid to think signs in a development would include passing?! It’s so stupid, it’s not even laughable. God help us all if this is the generation called to keep us out of messes as a country. Wow!
