The former mayor of the City of White House has had an ethics investigation opened. Why was that opened? A citizen of the city wrote a letter questioning several subdivisions that have been approved in the city. Safe Harbor is developing three local properties including the mayor’s former residence. Safe Harbor will be building The Farmstead, Jackson Farms, and Marlin Pointe. Safe Harbor is a large developer in the nation. They owned marinas which they sold to Sun Communities ( trust) and now look to focus on residential and recreational developments. All of their projects look relatively the same. They use Goodall for their homes. Goodall is HUGE and was purchased by Berkshire Hathaway in 2017. None of these are local. The only local part of these builders is the representative. All three of these were approved in 2020 and 2021. Is this ethical? Only an investigation will tell us.
Here is another question that needs to be asked that the local media won’t look into. Who is doing the water and sewer lines in these developments? Why is that an issue? Former Mayor Arnold disclosed his income as coming from Craig Johnson Construction. Mr. Johnson put the water and sewer lines in for the Concord Springs development that was approved in 2018. Guess what, the city doesn’t have or keep records for any of the subcontractors. This makes sense to a degree. The city doesn’t need to know who is putting in the cabinets and flooring for each of 700+ homes. However, it also means they don’t know who is providing the water and sewer lines either.
Yesterday I received a list of the developers here in White House. In the last three years, 31 approvals have taken place. 15 of those are in Robertson County, and 16 are in Sumner County. Four of these look to be new construction from a single family on their own lot. That leaves 27 developments approved in White House in just three years. Today I called Stagecoach Developments. They are building a subdivision on Calista Road known as Calista Farms. During the second reading, which allows for public input, no one spoke in favor of the Calista Farms subdivision, the city approved it. Stagecoach is also building a mixed use property on Sage Road. On the phone with their representative, he realized who I was and then refused to answer any questions. He wouldn’t tell me how many homes are going to be built, for that information he told me to call the city. When I asked who was going to do the water and sewer lines, he said he didn’t know. When asked who was going to do it on Sage, he replied he was deciding between two companies. He then stated, “You are the lady that yells at people during meetings. I’m not telling you anything.” What is wrong with giving out the information about the water and sewer line subcontractor? Is there something to hide? How many of the subcontractors in the area have direct ties to the county commissioners, BOMA (board of mayor and aldermen), or the planning commission? How many of the people who sit on those boards have something to gain from the explosive development? All of these questions should be asked by our local media. I’ve reached out to the local media, and silence.
Where is the local media? They have done nothing but cover fluff stories about the mayor “stepping down.”

I would love to see all those land developers go belly up. This should have you covered as a journalist!
Wow! He actually said you are the lady who screams at people during the meetings!! I have been to several meetings and I have NEVER heard anyone scream! So am i to assume someone has mentioned there is at least one resident asking questions? Why would he say that unless there has been some behind the scenes conversations. Kinda like the Aldermen meeting as a team with the city attorney behind closed doors.
