This summer I decided to read through a puzzle that I bought at Barnes and Noble. It’s book covers from “banned” books. It’s been fun, and depressing. 13 Reasons Why was written at 3.9 reading level and just not all that great. Huckleberry Finn was fun, but this time around I realized it was a rip off of Shakespeare. I had to have a different book cover to take Fifty Shades of Grey in public. That book was meh. Pornographic, and not well written. The Handmaid’s Tale was terrible dystopian future and it seemed like the author might have been friends with Stephen King, since their endings were trash. I love dystopian future, and this one did not make my list of favorites. I’ve read ten so far since May.
My husband comes home one day telling me about another book he is listening to. The next thing I know, the paper copy is on my front porch. Of course I stopped my list and started this book. (and finished) Nuclear War by Annie Jacobsen is a must read for all Americans.
I had no intentions of writing about this until Thursday night after the debate. Let me be clear, this post is NOT about politics. This post is about the fact that our government is playing politics with our lives.
On Thursday night we watched our president slur and bumble through answers that 10 years ago he could have answered without any trouble. Being as he has been in politics for 50 years, there is plenty of footage of him speaking. The man that entered the senate, is not the man that was on stage last night. (no I don’t believe in masks and lizard people, but I’m open) If you are a conservative watching alternate news, this was not a surprise to you. If you spend most of your time watching CNN, this was shocking. If you never watch the news, you had to have been blown away by the feebleness of our president.
I literally do NOT care what letter is behind him or what party he is part of. That is the president of the United States, the leader of the free world. Actually, he’s not leading anything. Who is? We as Americans have tuned out and given up. The administrative state is running our lives, and our president has been allowed to sink into dementia while his party, his family, his advisors, and the media have run interference for him. I’ll tell you what I think of his wife in a bit.
Why I bring up the book Nuclear War is because of what I saw on Thursday. In this book, Jacobsen describes what happens if and when North Korea decides to nuke us. I truly didn’t understand why that would make any sense on the part of N. Korea, until I read the book and realized you can’t make sense of madmen. Once a missile has been launched at the US, the president has 6 minutes to make a decision. SIX MINUTES!!!! When I watched the debate on Thursday, my stomach sank. There is no way in HELL that man could make any decisions in six minutes. If you watched the footage from after the debate, his wife helped him down the one step off the stage, and later told him what a great job he did answering all of the questions. This is the man with the nuclear codes following him around every day. Could he make the jump out of a helicopter with his secret service if need be? (read the book)
Our nation has known about the threats to us for years. Instead of dealing with them, we are busy making sure the military uses the right pronouns and dressing the white house in rainbow colors for the month of June. Our enemies are laughing. Our enemies saw our president on Thursday. They watched an old man that needs help up and down stairs. We should all be embarrassed and terrified. Once again, this is not about politics. This is about the safety of my family. Our politicians are getting rich, making rules, making deals, meeting lobbyists, doing interviews, taking out more debt, and our enemies are watching. They are watching us destroy each other online. They are watching us defend our president with dementia. They are going to win because our priorities are not on the safety of our people.
That being said, my biggest beef is with “Dr.” Jill. What kind of wife does this to her husband? She knows he is declining. She lives with him every day. She knew he needed help down the stairs. Yet there she is telling their fans he is running again. If he wins, what does the next 4 years look like for him? He should be spending his last days with his grandchildren on the beach. He should be napping and eating whatever kind of ice cream he likes instead of taking Botox shots and whatever meds they are giving him to function. There is a special place in hell for a woman that does this to her husband. My only hope for her is that someone is making her do this. Even that is a stretch. If you love your spouse, father, mother, etc., you put your foot down and say NO. NO you are not using my husband to stay in power. Damn her. It’s just awful and so sad. After 27 years of marriage, I am especially mad at her. I would never do that to my spouse. (watch the video in this link)
What’s next? I really don’t know. The 25th amendment needs to happen. We as Americans need to come together and demand that the leader of our nation is coherent and competent. We need to demand that our leaders put their time and effort into defending our nation not giving things to other countries. Please think about these things through the lens of an American, not a Republican or a Democrat. WE THE PEOPLE are not our politicians. We are not the elites trying to tell each other how to live. We are the people. The American People.
And now I’m reading The Parasitic Mind by Gad Saad. I’ll be back to the banned books soon, but many of them are so depressing, I needed a break. Like Nuclear War. Alright, that was not a happy read either. Had to read a Louis L’Amour after that. Highly recommend L’Amour, he’s light and adventurous.
Thanks for reading. Many of you might just not care, but when something is in my head, it stays there until I get it out on paper. I can move on now.
