Robertson County is in the death throes. You can hear her screams as the top soil is ripped off around every corner. You can see the pain in the eyes of her people. The people that once found peace in tobacco barns and cattle are now staring at little wooden boxes on the hillside. They pop up like a cancer or a growth. There is no cure as the cancer is in stage four. There will be nothing to leave to the children, as they have all gone to places where they can afford to live. That place is not here.
Clarion Homes got their R-40 through planning. There was one letter written against it. That one letter was mine. I donate my time to the local high school wrestling team, and I was there for try-outs that night. I wrote my letter. You did not write yours. They still need to get through county commission, but at this point does it even matter?
There are homes on every corner of land here on the east side of the county. Horseshoe road has a few new ones. There is an event venue on Calista now. (it’s lovely and an upgrade from the falling down building that was there) The town homes by The Parks are framed, and the two newest subdivisions on Calista each have at least 10 homes. Springfield approved 3000 units in town, and Greenbrier is adding more as well. It’s over my friends. We lost.
My sister used to live an hour away from Atlanta in a nice old town. Nice hills and vegetation. Now she lives two hours away in an Atlanta suburb. No she hasn’t moved. Welcome to metro Nashville Robertson County.
No words. :(
