In 1773 the colonists were angry. Two years after the Boston Tea Party, we went to war with England. Our fledgling nation did NOT want to be responsible for the debt that England had accumulated. Oh how far we have come.
Let’s start with a list of all the things that are taxed. The feds tax our income and gas. The state taxes our food, clothing, water, electricity, death, cars, gas, medicine, doctor visits, vet visits, the gym, housecleaning, restaurant food, used cars, (they tax those every time you sell them), game license, driver’s license, furniture, cleaning products, property, and hotel stays. I’m sure I missed something, but at this point, unless you are a prostitute in Nevada, sex is the only un-taxed activity we have left. Where is the tea party? Where are the patriots?
Let me tell you where they are. They are cowering in fear at the thought of losing their police officers, fire fighters, and teachers. Every time these money grabbing politicians want to raise taxes, they threaten us with losing those three services. REALLY?? You aren’t going to cut teachers etc. You just threaten us with that so we comply with your theft. When those of us in the real world are faced with rising costs and shrinking bank accounts, we have to cut spending. We give up eating out, that expensive coffee, and a few streaming services. We don’t go on vacation and try to get another few years out of that old car. What does government do? Hold a gun to the heads of its citizens and raise taxes. YOU ARE IMMORAL!!!
Property tax is theft and is immoral. Prove me wrong. Every month I pay my mortgage. In just over 10 years, I will own my home. No, I won’t own my own home, I will be renting is from Robertson County. If I miss a payment, they will take it from me. They will take a house that you paid for. It could be a $300k house that the tax payment is $2k that year, and they will take it. You will never own your property. The people have been freaking out about Klaus Schwab and the WEF telling you “You will own nothing and be happy,” but we are already there. You will never own your home. You will never really own your car either. Every year you will order that tag that goes on your license plate that tells the world you asked the govt permission to drive your car.
We need taxes. I agree with that. We need to keep roads, fire fighters, police, highway patrol, EMS, and jails functioning. I will pay the taxes to drive my car if you are going to put in stop lights and repave my road after the water pipe breaks and washes it out. I will pay the tax on a new car, but my teenager should NOT have to pay taxes on a $1500 truck he bought that was built in 1980. That is theft. When he sells that thing two years from now, the government will tax it again. The tax holiday on food is nice, but it should be permanent. Why are we being taxed on food? I could get behind a flat tax. Let’s tax everyone once. The feds can have 10% of our incomes, if they get rid of all of the departments that are unconstitutional. A 10% flat tax would automatically get rid of the IRS. You don’t need those thugs if your taxes can be done on a post card. No loop holes, no deductions, no work arounds for those with great accountants, just a flat tax. Let’s do the same at the state level. I have no idea what those numbers look like. I am not an accountant. What I do know is that I am spending between $1500-$1700 a month for groceries. We are actually only getting $1350-$1530 worth of food.
Robertson County wants more of my money. First they reassessed my property. My value went up by more than 50%. Now they want to make sure that they get their share of that. They want to raise the rates from $1.6449 to $1.87 per $100. How about just NO. I’m not getting a raise. Inflation is killing us too. How about tightening the belt like the rest of us? How about providing the basics and nothing else?
The truth is, it doesn’t matter what I say. I can write this and show up for that meeting, but they will raise the taxes anyway because the politicians are so much smarter than you or me. Remember that, they always know best. They know best for the light bulbs you want, the cars you want, and how to raise and educate your children. So I’ll write this article, and next year I’ll write a bigger check. And when I pay off my house, I’ll ask the massa in Robertson County to let me keep living in my house for a nominal fee.
Good article! You said what we all are thinking
Or my personal favorite tax...the city and the county tax every year my small business for the "privilege" of using tools that I paid taxes when I purchased them. "personal"--a joke --property tax... the breaking point is coming soon I fear.
