Planning and codes director Ceagus Clark has been working on getting the Days Inn, next to the Love’s Truck Stop, cleaned up. There have long been rumors on HIP White House about “lot lizards” and drugs on the two properties. It turns out that not only is crime reported on the property, but there are many code violations. In February, the planning and codes department gave official notice to owner Peter Patel, that he had two weeks to adress the code violations, or be forced to vacate the premises. Here is the order that went out in February.

The improvements were not met, and Patel found himself in court with the City of White House in May. Judge Zanger heard the case, and has given Patel until July 11th to make the necessary improvements or sell the property. Patel states that a sale is imminent.
The city has been dealing with code violations and crime on this property for months if not years. As of today, the property is under contract, but has not yet been sold. Once the case is reviewed in July, there will be an update here on the results.
